Arbor Homes, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, is seeking a Purchasing Analyst to join our Nationalized Asset Team located in Columbus, OH. This position will assist the procurement initiatives of our Divisional Purchasing and Production Teams. What Will You Bring?
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Excellent process management and organization skills
  • Open communication and collaboration skills
  • BS/BA in Construction, Computer Science, or relevant field preferred
  • Experience in Residential Construction preferred.
  • Experience with Sapphire, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Smartsheet, Teams) and other related applications preferred.


What Will You Be Doing?
  • Trade Partner contract management (vendor setup package compliance)
    • Setup Docusign requests
    • Follow up on requests
  • Maintain vendor pricing records and facilitate approved modifications.
    • Update Bid Item pricing per Managers request
  • Contractual compliance and continuance (scope of work, insurance, training)
    • Become familiar with Scopes, and occasionally do field audits to ensure conformance.
  • Support daily division operations and category management (request for information and change management)
  • Assist in quantity takeoff validation and consolidated summary documents.
    • As needed to audit Data Builds
  • Review production release data for inconsistencies or anomalies
    • Check for correct Vendors
    • Check for misaligned pricing -i.e. $0 or Large number not in line with normal
    • Qtys reviewed for correctness
  • Cross train with other Nationalized Asset Teams to backfill workflow needs.
  • Apple to apple pricing comparisons on an as directed basis.
    • Vendor to Vendor
    • Method to Method
  • Variance Purchase Order reduction and elimination
    • Determine Trends of excess spends
    • Offer possible solutions
    • Add items to PO's as needed
  • Provide Trade Partners and Suppliers with system and process training as needed.
    • Assist them with
      • How to See Schedule
      • How to See PO's / VPO's
      • How to See what has been / will be paid
  • From time-to-time research cost reduction opportunities as directed by Director of Purchasing and Procurement
    • Alternate Material research
    • Alternate Vendor research
    • Consolidation opportunities
  • Support the Purchasing and Procurement Manager with Default Vendors and vendor reassignment.
    • Make sure the correct vendors are assigned to the correct Communities.
  • This position will require ongoing field audits, training and review.
  • Assist the Construction Coordinator with Permit Submittals and follow up on tasks required to submit.
  • Assist with Utility Payments and invoicing.
  • Assemble Pre-Construction Packets
  • Assemble New Home Start Packets
  • Construction Document Uploads to Kova
  • Post Closing Document Audits
