What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems Ohio offices have an opportunity for an Engineer 2 to join our Roadway Practice. This Engineer 2 will be a member of our roadway group and will lead and assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculation, geometric design, drainage design, MOT, specifications, cost estimates and other related tasks. Microstation, Open Roads Designer, MS Office and other design software will be used, and all work will be in collaboration with other engineers, technicians, planners, and surveyors. This Engineer will also help mentor younger engineers and will be given the opportunity to develop into a project manager. Candidates with a background in preliminary engineering or development of detailed plans and specification are preferred; and must possess strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform detailed roadway calculations.
• Computation of plan quantities to support cost estimates.
• Completion of final submittal documents for design and/or rehabilitation projects.
• Preparation of plans using Microstation and other design software.
• Review project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Works well independently and in team environment.
• Commitment to quality work and timely communication

What you bring to our firm:

• Bachelors degree in the civil engineering field
• 5-10 years of design experience
• Experience in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and MS Office
• Professional Engineer License
• Communication skills; ability to be a team player; display of high energy; and problem solving skills
• Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
• Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.

What wed prefer for you to bring to our firm:

• Familiarity with ODOT procedures, policies, standards, and publications
• General knowledge of roadway and/or drainage design
• Experience in the entire design development process including preliminary engineering, final design and services during construction
