Job Description Information System Security Officer (ISSO) - 27868 **Position Description**

We are seeking a dedicated Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to help us protect APL's information technologyinfrastructure. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to IS security oversight and oversight of our classified information systems in support of sponsor/program needs. You'll join a hardworking team of technical specialists who are motivated by one common goal. We are passionate about supporting our Program needs. You'll be an active contributor to the safeguarding of APL's sponsor network systems.

**As an ISSO**

* Your main responsibility will be to insure classified systems follow government and APL regulations while still meeting program demands.

* You will audit and assess information systems using accredited tools and validate that any deviations from standard are approved or mitigated.

* You'll develop and maintain system security plans (SSPs), network and system diagrams, and any other documentation necessary to maintain security compliance while meeting customer requirements.

* You will assist in preparations for and participate in system inspections and take timely action to correct and document any issues or findings and train IS users on items required to eliminate security incidents.

**Qualifications**

: **You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...**

* Have a Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent years of professional work experience in a related discipline.

* Have demonstrable skills organizing, documenting, and sharing information in a collaborative environment.

* Are able to achieve and maintain (within 6 months of hire) a security certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M. Examples of qualifying certifications include Security+, CISSP, CASP, or similar.

* Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date, and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

* Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. **You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have...**

* A graduate degree in an Information Technology field.

* Experience with Risk Management Framework and STIG deployment and analysis.

* Previous experience as an ISSO or network systems administrator.

* Experience with Splunk, Nessus, WSUS or other related tools.

* An active security clearance.

* Any of the previously listed certifications.
