Senior Risk Manager, Financial Planning and Reporting

Job description

The Senior Risk Manager will develop and manage the financial planning and reporting strategy for the Risk team as well as participate in the implementation of an industry-leading risk management program. Clarks Risk Management Team, located in McLean, VA, is comprised of finance, operations, legal, and risk professionals whose primary mission is to protect the $6 billion enterprise from catastrophic financial loss while providing cost effective risk management and insurance solutions that mitigate operational risk and contribute to competitive advantage and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Financial planning process management:

    • Develop models to forecast program revenues and expenses

    • Identify and communicate key metrics and performance indicators to senior management

    • Analyze program performance to assure cost effectiveness across all business units

    • Assist Project Teams in implementing insurance procedures, budgets and accounting for all newly acquired projects

  • Work collaboratively with the various business groups:

    • Direct insurance program placements and renewals

    • Liaise with third-party insurance brokers to oversee and provide strategic and operational guidance and coordinate their services

    • Interact with Legal counsel to identify risk in proposed construction agreements

    • Interact directly with lenders, joint venture partners, and project owners to assure insurance meets requirements and provide documents as required for each project

    • Provide risk management support to all projects nationwide

  • Cashflow and accounting process management:

    • Oversee department cashflows and ensure timely processing of all risk payables and receivables

    • Support insurance related monthly accounting transactions

    • Prepare internal reports and communicate results to senior management

    • Perform analysis and compile annual, monthly, and ad hoc ?nancial and/or risk reports

  • Manage risk management program documentation to protect the Organization against unknown risk:

    • Maintain Risk Management Information System (RMIS), inclusive of all essential project related documents, insurance schedules and claim activity

    • Review documents to assure accuracy and appropriateness of coverage

    • Provide recommendations for alternative risk management solutions

  • Interface effectively with project teams, business partners (Insurers, Brokers, TPAs, Actuaries, Captive Managers, etc.), and others to develop and implement risk management processes and solutions

  • Identify and analyze potential business risks and participate in developing strategies and solutions to address any identified risks

  • Assist with internal and external insurance program audits

  • Create Risk Management Procedures and assist with development of other training materials

  • Proactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win the right work

  • Take an active role in recruiting top industry talent to join the Clark team. Identify, hire, and retain outstanding people

  • Exceed our stakeholders expectations by anticipating their needs, desires, and goals

Basic Qualifications

  • B.A / B.S in Risk Management, Finance or related ?eld preferred but not required

  • CPCU, ARM or CRIS designation is desirable (can be completed on job)

  • 10+ years of related experience preferred

  • Strong ?nancial and accounting technical skills required

  • Broad knowledge and experience in risk management, risk financing, risk assessment and risk strategy

  • Ability to analyze complex problems involving varying viewpoints and to develop viable solutions

  • Strong project management skills, results-driven, adaptable with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Superior interpersonal skills

  • Ease in working with people up and down the organization hierarchy

  • Naturally adaptive to different audiences

  • Strong team focus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to take initiative, be proactive and work e?ciently without supervision

  • Experience managing others a plus
