Progressive Life Center, Inc. (PLC) is a Black-led organization, providing culturally-sensitivity human services to children, youth and families in the District of Columbia and surrounding Maryland, throughout Greater Philadelphia, and in most of Delaware. PLC's array of community-based services includes foster care and adoption, independent living for youth aging out of foster care, family preservation, juvenile diversion, and parenting skills training. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Family Preservation program minimizes the risk of children being removed from their family and home. Intensive, in-home services are provided to build upon existing family strengths, minimize family crisis, stabilize the family unit, and keep the family intact. Case Managers work up close and personal with families to identify strengths and needs and develop plans of care specifically tailored for the family. Families are involved in all aspects of treatment and intervention.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute receptionist responsibilities.
  • Coordinate office procurement of supplies, equipment, services, and business-related travel.
  • Serve as system coordinator of phone, voice mail, security system, office network systems, Microsoft office, and program-specific software.
  • Use software applications to produce high-quality correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Send confirmation letters/emails to referral workers and families.
  • Ensure mail distribution within the office.
  • Receive visitors.
  • Coordinate office openings and closings.
  • Update and maintain database(s) when necessary.
  • File documentation.
  • Assure quality condition of equipment.
  • Serve as liaison to Headquarters and other PLC offices and facilitate office-wide communication.
  • Participate in administrative committee meetings.
  • Actively assist and comply with COA accreditation.
  • Serve as liaison between Regional Director, Program Director, program staff, and customers both internally and externally.
  • Complete administration functions of proposal production.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Experience answering, screening, or forwarding calls as well as providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with people from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of discretion, personal initiative and autonomy.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills a must.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and problem-resolution skills required.
  • Must have computer software experience using databases and Microsoft Office Programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer); Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to position self to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must have ability to navigate stairwells.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees/customers/clients; and must be able to exchange accurate information by perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information.
  • Frequently move files weighing up to 20 pounds throughout the office space.
  • Must be able to participate in fire drills or other drills during an emergency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Normal office environment indoors.
