Description

Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced and committed to serving at-risk youth.

In our residential treatment program, we serve males and females ages 12 to 18 years old to include youth with varying mental health diagnoses, survivors of trauma, PSB, pregnant and parenting teens, and survivors of commercial sexual exploitation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Supervision of Staff

Supervision of staff includes oversight responsibilities of the supervisor such as scheduling, directing, monitoring, and evaluating the individuals' work activities. It also includes individual development activities such as counseling, mentoring, consulting, instructing and demonstrating job related functions. Regular supervisory contact with individuals is essential in the establishment and maintenance of adequate job performance.
  • On-call to manage shift coverage when necessary. House Coordinators are responsible for covering shifts if all other efforts have been exhausted and there is nobody available to cover
  • Provide oversight to ensure documentation for the home in order to remain in compliance with licensing, accreditation, and placing agency requirements. Such as the following, but not limited to: EMAR audits, temperature logs, room searches, house inspections, supervision logs, fire drills logs, etc.
  • Create and manage the master employee schedule for the assigned home.
  • Responsible for scheduling staff in order to maintain required licensing staff to resident ratios.
  • Orientation, training, and supervision of direct care workers. Direct and oversee care workers in their duties. Notify employees of upcoming training and compliance items. Document contact on the supervision log.
  • Conduct supervision with regularly assigned staff twice per month, and once a month with relief staff. Additional supervision may be conducted as needed. Document and maintain supervision logs. Provide supervision logs to the Human Resources office annually with performance evaluations, or upon transfer of supervisor or termination of staff.
  • Conduct group/ house supervision with assigned staff on a monthly basis and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Provide oversight, collaboration, and teamwork with house staff to ensure the home is free of any health or safety hazards. This includes, but is not limited to: food disposal, proper food storage, deep cleaning, sanitation logs, work orders for damages and necessary repairs, etc.
  • Provide oversight, collaboration, and teamwork with house staff to ensure the implementation of social skills, life skills, acculturation, recreation, leisure, psycho-educational groups, etc. as necessary per licensing requirements of the home.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance on required documentation in FAMcare, such as, but not limited to: daily shifts notes, behavior reports, serious incident reports, PRTF interventions (if applicable), etc.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and other evacuation drills as needed.
  • Ensure availability for crisis situations on YFT campus during off hours while coordinating with Residential Leadership.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled House Coordinator Meetings.


General Duties
  • "Parent" (guide, nurture, discipline, encourage, and counsel) the young men/women under care.
  • Have direct responsibility for physical care, guidance and supervision of the residents.
  • Manage resident behavior.
  • Provide healthy and appropriate role modeling environment.
  • Plan, develop, facilitate, and interact with residents during on and off campus activities; to include, but not limited to, life skills, social skills, acculturation, recreation, outings, etc.
  • Use techniques, strategies, methods, and resources to instill appropriate social skills in students Responsible for identifying resident needs and addressing them on ISPs, if applicable to program (RTC, LTFC).
  • Maintain appropriate follow-up with any resident who is employed off-campus to include checking in with the job supervisor, performing random drop-ins at the work site, and reviewing weekly work schedules and pay stubs.
  • Complete in a timely manner necessary logs required by Joint Commission, COA, DSS, DBHDS, ORR, etc.
  • Plan instruction to meet the individual and group needs of the residents.
  • Help meet the goals and objectives of any required service plan.
  • Work closely with the School Principal along with other YFT staff to ensure the educational needs of the resident are met.
  • Supervise study periods and provide academic assistance.
  • Keep fellow Teachers, House Parents, Therapists, and Case Managers informed of student's progress and specific areas of concentration for each resident.
  • Participate in scheduled evaluation team (UIM) and treatment team (RTC).
  • Ensure medications are properly stored, administered, and recorded.
  • Secure appointments and provide transportation to outside professionals (medical, dental, judicial, job interviews, off-campus employment, off-campus school classes, bank, etc.), If authorized.
  • Input required resident documentation into FAMcare
  • Maintain a bookkeeping system for resident's monies.
  • Collaborating with the YFT kitchen in a timely manner to ensure the home is properly stocked with food and drink. Assist with preparation of meals in the home, when YFT cafeteria is closed.
  • Responsible to implement day-to-day routines established within the overall program/model of YFT which is subject to change.
  • Influence, negotiate, instruct, advise, coordinate, and manage the daily operations of assigned home/ hall.
  • Conduct house inspections and maintain records of work orders and helpdesk tickets.
  • Conduct thorough daily room searches for each resident with particular attention given to contraband and cleanliness.
  • Conduct resident body and property searches in accordance to policy and procedures.
  • Attend in person training and complete all mandated training assigned in a timely manner.
  • All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720).
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO, Vice President of Programs, or Supervisor

Trainings: All Mandatory training required by licensing or government agencies and YFT

Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree in social work or psychology and two years of professional experience working with children one year of which must have been in a residential facility for children; or
  • A high school diploma or a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.) and a minimum of five years professional experience working with children with at least two years in a residential facility for children; or
  • A combination of education and experience working with children as approved by the VDSS or DBHDS licensing agencies.
  • Satisfactory results of health screening and backgrounds checks, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Able to work full time with on-call availability and flexibility to provide shift coverage, as needed.
  • Age 21 or above as per state regulations and standards.
  • Bilingual preferred; (if applicable) list spoken languages: Spanish, English.

ADA Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position: Medium to Heavy work. Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally for physical restraints of students.

The physical activity of this position:
  1. Grasp, restrain a person utilizing techniques taught in Handle With Care.
  2. Standing for sustained periods of time.
  3. Reaching. Extending hands and arms in any direction.
  4. Walking, moving about on foot.
