The SoC Design Engineer will utilize DSP skills in developing solutions that span the entire electronics stack of Xilinx MPSoC devices, from the reconfigurable fabric through application software. Additionally, the SoC Design Engineer will aid in cross-domain collaboration by providing implementation guidance/assistance to RF engineers. This position is located in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect and implement hardware/software-based DSP systems with the Xilinx RFSoC family of devices.
  • DSP pipeline design using a combination of firmware (HDL) and software (C/C++).
  • Development of interface middleware which facilitates access to FPGA programmable logic.
  • Lab setup and evaluation of circuit cards.
  • Generate technical documentation.

Qualifications:

Requirements include:

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in digital design.
  • Experience designing and integrating digital circuitry to include: FPGAs, DSPs, and fundamental circuit elements.
  • Working knowledge of embedded Linux (i.e. Petalinux).
  • Familiar with common bus standards (e.g. Wishbone, AXI, etc.).
  • Experience developing/debugging embedded (both OS-based and baremetal) software in C/C++, and firmware in Verilog or VHDL.
  • Working knowledge of Xilinx design/debug tools and SoC (MPSoC or RFSoC) programmable logic devices.
  • Experience implementing and evaluating performance of DSP algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in digital design
  • Experience with RF systems (radar, communications, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of over/undersampling within various Nyquist zones.
  • Experience using industry-standard digital simulation software (e.g. ModelSim).
  • Working knowledge of the AXI bus protocol and its variants (e.g. streaming AXI, AXI-lite).
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and their associated HDL-generation workflows.
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with VPX (VITA-46) standards.
  • Experience operating electronic test equipment (e.g. spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Top Secret clearance with Tier 5 background investigation.
