**Process Center Leader (Machine Shop Manager)**

**Job Summary:**

The Machine Shop Manager reports directly to the Shared Services Manager. The Machine Shop Manager helps to develop, communicate and implement the Operating Unit vision, strategy, goals and metrics to meet objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Customer Satisfaction, Cost and Continuous Improvement. The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of employees and processes in a manufacturing environment.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

* Ownership of Machine Shop execution from program/project kick-off through delivery to and acceptance by downstream customer (product value stream / process center)

* Accountable for meeting or exceeding the safety, quality, delivery and cost expectations of internal and external customers within the Machine Shop. Ensures plans are developed and executed to meet internal and external customer requirements; achieve target production yields.

* Own, execute and continuously improve Daily Management (Gemba, Obeya, Stand-Ups, etc) within the Machine Shop

* Continuously improve products, processes, systems and services through the application of lean concepts, best practices and ideas

* Attend and add guidance to Corrective Action Board (CAB) meeting to improve product quality and test yields

* Manage multiple conflicting priorities among product value streams by collaborating with Master Scheduling and other downstream internal customers to ensure priority alignment

* Accountable for meeting Machine Shop overhead expense budget and direct report DLY objectives

* Support customer proposals by providing basis of estimates for labor and schedule durations

* Ensure that equipment and machinery are maintained in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules for each assigned area

* Communicate/escalate key issues related to safety/security, quality, delivery, employee, cost to site leadership, peers, and employees

* Proactively strengthen the Machine Shop team through the performance management process (individual and group goal setting, coaching and personnel development)

* Establish and maintain training requirements and deploy resources accordingly

* Create an environment of trust, transparency and engagement

**Qualifications**

**Basic Qualifications:**

* Bachelors degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining, CNC programming, and tool/die making or Masters degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC machining, CNC programming, and tool/die making. High School Diploma OR GED and a minimum of 9 years of experience in CNC machining, CNC programming, and tool/ die making may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

* Minimum of 2 years' of demonstrated leadership experience

* Commitment to employee engagement, equality, and inclusion

* Understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001, Six Sigma and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)

* US Citizenship required

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Bachelors degree in chemical, industrial engineering, other STEM degree, or business degree.

* 5+ years of experience supervising a machine shop and / or experience as a Journeyman Machinist or Journeyman Tool and Die Maker

* Ability to strengthen workforce skills in LEAN/Continuous Improvement experience and root cause problem solving

* Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
