Job Summary

This position is based inthe Corporate Office, Sykesville, Maryland and plays a key role in providingsupport to the VP/General Counsel in matters related to long-term care andassisted living facility licensure. Responsibilities include facilitating allcomponents of licensure for multiple skilled nursing and assisted livingfacilities. This position requires a strong understanding of the licensurerequirements and regulations applicable to post-acute care facilities and thelegal process, in general, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment todelivering high-quality legal support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the licensure process for long-term care and assisted living facilities, including the preparation, submission, and tracking of licensure applications
  • Ensure all required documentation and regulatory compliance standards are met, and deadlines are adhered to throughout the licensure process
  • Collaborate with relevant government agencies, including the state health department, to gather information and address any inquiries or challenges related to licensure
  • Monitor and ensure that long-term care and assisted living facilities comply with state and federal licensure regulations
  • Keep abreast of changes in licensing requirements and regulations to ensure facilities remain in compliance
  • Maintain organized records and databases of legal documents, correspondence, and licensure-related materials
  • Act as a point of contact for facilities regarding licensure matters, providing updates on the progress of their applications and addressing their inquiries
  • Conduct legal research to support legal team in document preparation and strategy development related to long-term care and assisted living facilities
  • Handle billing and invoicing related to licensure matters
  • Prepare periodic compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • May draft, review, and edit legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory compliance materials
  • May assist legal team with administrative tasks
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned


Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and completion of a paralegal program or equivalent combination of education and legal experience
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a paralegal, with a strong understanding of legal processes and documentation
  • Knowledge of regulations and licensure procedures related to long-term care and assisted living facilities is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in legal research, document management, and case preparation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills, self-starter, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external resources to include attorneys and government agencies
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
