Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

Job description

The Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is extremely detail-oriented, possess excellent leadership traits, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and is highly organized. This role reports to the Director of FP&A and will own several key workstreams related to corporate-level business and financial forecasting and planning. This is a highly visible position, and will be a go-to for the Director of FP&A and interface frequently with Treasury, Accounting and Business Operations.

Primary Position Tasks:
  • The individual will be an integral member of a team responsible for budgeting, forecasting and managing Red River's full P&L and serving as an analytical and strategic business partner throughout the organization.
  • Oversee key corporate finance processes including working with various business and functional leaders to update revenue and cost forecasts, and articulate explanations for variances against budgets and prior forecasts.
  • Manage the activities of the Corporate FP&A team to ensure people and processes are in place to ensure accurate forecasting and planning
  • Develop analysis to provide relevant Executive-level guidance on business performance and areas of risk & opportunity
  • Build relationships with senior operational partners across the business
  • Provide financial leadership on ad hoc projects and new initiatives, including new business proposals, product launches, and / or service offerings.
  • Support the accounting month-end close process to include applicable analysis.
  • Development and monitor KPIs and progress to include recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget to include forecasting.
  • Supervise the creation of reports, software implementation, and tools for budgeting and forecasting and drive technology automation.
  • Manage direct reports to lead them to the most efficient processes.
  • Participate in periodic calls with Executive Leadership Team, PE-firm, and other constituents as required.
  • Provide guidance to others in the organization including periodic training to finance and non-finance staff.
  • Provide leadership and training to all functions.

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of FP&A concepts and principles, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices for reporting, planning, forecasting, analysis and treasury support.
  • Excellent attention to detail, as well as experience in financial reporting, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting, cost and pricing, and planning and control
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and at least 6 years of budgeting and / or analytical experience
  • 3 years of leadership experience
  • Experience leading a team, executing multiple projects and juggling competing priorities.
  • Maturity and perspective which add value beyond the finance function; ability to assume broader responsibilities, to help set strategic direction to establish operating priorities.

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
  • Prior experience in supporting a VAR or government service business model
  • Master's Degree
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint presentation development skills
  • Ability to develop robust interactive excel models independently

  • Self-directed and highly motivated, with the decisiveness and flexibility necessary to operate successfully in a changing, rapid-growth, hands-on environment.
  • An effective presenter who can clearly and concisely explain accounting items & financial results. Track record of leading, mentoring and developing an experienced team and building a succession plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and recognize the importance of relationship building and professionalism in interacting with both senior management and staff employees.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • ERP implementations.
  • Leadership roles in working with Private Equity backed organizations.
  • High energy, dynamic professional with a strong leadership presence.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion is required.
  • Strong presence with the ability to interact with Senior Leadership.


Essential Elements:

This position is an office position that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday.

This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
