Description

Refugee Resettlement Case Manager is responsible for the direct case management of individual refugee cases (including minor children), timely delivery of core services, and consistent documentation of services to each refugee family served by LSSNCA. Under the guidance of the Resettlement Manager, the Case Manager will assist refugee and newcomer families to ease the transition, empower clients, and put him/her on the path to self-sufficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all core services mandated through the Department of State Cooperative Agreement are provided within allocated timeframes
  • Greet new refugee arrivals at the airport and transport to their residence
  • In collaboration with Housing team, assist in finding suitable and affordable housing and setting up the apartment with the support of the Logistics Coordinator
  • Conduct a home visits and, when necessary, transport and accompany clients to assist in their access to different government and community services
  • Coordinate initial services for arriving refugees and develop individual service plans
  • Continue to assess individual and household needs according to program guidelines throughout the service period
  • Collaborate with local health departments, social services offices , mental health providers, school systems and other services providers to ensure required services deliveries to refugees
  • Coordinate with volunteers and churches to support client integration and success
  • In collaboration with the Education team, provide cultural orientation and other integration trainings to newly arriving families as part of the adjustment process per Reception and Placement guidelines
  • Verify the need and eligibility for rental, cash assistance and other needs and process payment vouchers

Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain well-organized case notes and client files; Complete documentation of all meetings with and work related to clients thoroughly and in a timely manner. Use appropriate forms and policies as directed by the Resettlement Manager
  • Reports to the Program Manager for resettlement for supervision and submission of statistics and required data
  • Prepares case closure reports in Apricot and IRIS for submission in timely manner
  • Provides R&P activities information quarterly reports
  • Use data management system to regularly collect data and complete case notes (use of Apricot and IRIS database)
  • Attend regular meetings, case consultations, and assist with the development of crisis mitigation strategies
  • Able to keep informed of the social services policies and practices in all counties and localities where clients are resettling.
  • Work as part of the program team, and participate in staff meetings, and in-service trainings;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree (four-year college or technical school) required in one of the following fields of study: social work, human services, social services, or related field

Experience
  • 1 plus years of experience in refugee resettlement

Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • A personal vehicle or access to a vehicle required.
  • Background check and drug screen.

Preferred Skills
  • Fluency in one or more of our refugee languages
  • Ability to organize multiple client-related activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to balance the needs of the client and the employer.
  • Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
  • Excellent computer skills, accurate typing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner.
  • Be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Knowledge of immigration and/or refugee issues
  • Reads, writes, and speaks a relevant foreign language
