In this role, the Prototype Purchasing Buyer I can work independently and with other purchasing and technical teams in performing a full range of Power Sports procurement functions, including tool/part cost negotiation/evaluation, cost reduction research, assigned parts/child parts procurement, supplier cost/quality/delivery management and parts procurement delivery/administration. Acts as liaison to suppliers and project design teams.

A liaison to suppliers and internal design teams with minimal supervision, conducts pre-project build meetings to observe/review supplier-tooling methods for quality and cost assessments, monitors supplier quality/delivery and relays changes in quantity, quality standards and/or deadlines, addresses quality issues and recommends countermeasures, negotiates with suppliers to ensure quality standards are met and coordinates shipment/delivery with limited supervision

Supports planning and issuing Purchase Orders (POs) for all projects. Confirm appropriate supplier selection for existing & new parts, required parts/lead times per drawing issue schedule/delivery dates, and specifications/procurement needs are met. Interfaces with suppliers to obtain Request for Quotes (RFQs) to establish target costs prior to project builds, analysing supplier quotes and negotiating costs for all projects. Coordinates parts procurement administration, including tracking open parts requests/orders/changes, generating Open Order Report

Applies knowledge of parts/child parts in assigned area of specialty, drawing specifications/release timing and supplier prototype tooling methods to procure prototype parts/child parts for development/testing activities, including evaluating tools/prototype parts cost/quality and coordinating lead time to ensure costs within budget, delivery, quality, quantity, and build schedule/testing deadlines.

Conducts supplier research, sourcing new suppliers who can meet internal quality/cost requirements, investigating new cost-effective methods that would reduce costs while meeting quality standards and delivery schedules, confirming research findings with design team and noting existing suppliers that do not meet cost/quality requirements.

**Qualifications**

* Bachelors degree (or related relevant experience)

* 1yr minimum experience in Power Sports or Automotive Prototype Procurement preferred

* Understanding of material costs, labor rates and prototype manufacturing methods

* Competent investigative, judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills

* Competent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills

* Competent diplomacy, negotiation and conflict resolution skills

* Competent analytical, organizational, multi-tasking and detail-oriented skills

* Ability to read and interpret drawings

* Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies

* Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point)

* Must be able to possess a high level of confidentiality

* Timing to achieve purchase order issued following design drawing issue.

* On-time parts delivery to support prototype build / test schedule deadlines

* Managing prototype parts & tooling cost to achieve budget targets

* Parts & Assembly structure procurement strategy

* Supporting supplier selection for difficult parts to ensure best performance while keeping QCD targets

* Supporting prototype tooling strategy, to achieve parts delivery, quantity, and accuracy, with minimal cost
