THE POSITION

Serve as a Windows System Administrator for the JSSC, responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of multiple Windows / UNIX based Operating Systems and supporting systems within the Windows / UNIX operating Environment (OE) supporting the JSSC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide advanced technical support and guidance for Windows/UNIX systems and associated middleware to maintain, upgrade, deploy, and secure classified systems supporting JSSC operations.
  • Support desktop and virtual client management, including setting up administrator accounts, maintaining documentation, optimizing system performance, installing software, validating patches, and troubleshooting faults using diagnostic tools.
  • Engineer hardware and software architectures for MS Windows, including client virtualization, to enhance customer operating environments while ensuring cybersecurity for JSSC and its customers' assets.
  • Collaborate with external organizations, customers, and technical teams to establish partnerships, address complex technical issues, and participate in change and configuration control functions.
  • Evaluate and recommend software, procedures, and project plans, ensuring prompt resolution options, patch management, and compliance with government requirements for desktop/client operating systems and software.
  • Support packaging and customization of COTS software, perform installations, configurations, and maintenance of custom applications, including web applications and script-based tasks.
  • Analyze application and system diagnostics, resolve performance challenges, administer system utilities, and monitor and tune Windows/UNIX-based environments to improve reliability and performance.
  • Maintain server operating systems, COTS, and GOTS software, conduct performance monitoring, and provide cybersecurity support to ensure the security posture of supported systems and tools.
  • Develop, install, and monitor Windows/UNIX operating systems and associated software, collaborating with customers to determine functional requirements and coordinating with development teams for systematic enhancements.
  • Engineer hardware and software architectures for MS Windows, UNIX/LINUX, various database systems, and Cloud infrastructures, performing non-emergency maintenance, repairs, and upgrades during off-business hours.
  • Maintain daily operations log and weekly maintenance schedule to document significant events and maintenance activities, including systems being maintained, schedule, and authorizations.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria, identifying upgrade needs, and anticipating customer requirements to effectively plan, schedule, and oversee system upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security requirements, worksite access protocols, training, certifications, and other assigned duties/projects.

  • 100% on-site at the Pentagon.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility; AND,
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND,
  • Active CompTIA Security+CE or equivalent; AND
  • 10+ years of general information technology experience, including:
    • 7-10 years of proven experience in Windows System Administration, preferably using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) in a government or military environment.
    • strong knowledge of MS Windows Client/Server environments, virtualization technologies (VMWare), and network protocols.
    • familiarity with COTS, GOTS, and Open-Source software.
    • ability to troubleshoot, debug, and customize software and applications.
    • excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
