Job description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Mail Screener. The primary responsibility of the Mail Screener is to inspect incoming mail for hazardous contents, ensuring the safety and security of our organization and its personnel. The ideal candidate will be capable of wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hood covering the face and head-to-toe protective suits.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • $22.38 per hour (pls $4.57 per hour health and welfare)

Logistics:
  • Monday through Friday Work Schedule
  • Hours: 7:30am 4:00pm (40 hours per week)
  • Location: Northern VA/DC area (parking available onsite)
  • Must have a Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one

Responsibilities of the Mail Screener:
  • Mail Screening: Thoroughly inspect incoming mail for hazardous materials, including but not limited to chemicals, toxins, and other potentially harmful substances. Utilize specialized equipment and procedures for effective screening.
  • Safety Procedures: Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines while handling and screening mail. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of PPE at all times to minimize exposure risks.
  • Experience: Previous experience in the military or security fields is highly desirable. Familiarity with chemical/toxic testing methodologies and procedures is advantageous.
  • Labor Intensive Work: This position involves labor-intensive and physical tasks, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
  • Cleaning Duties: In addition to screening and testing mail, the role encompasses maintaining a clean and organized work area. Responsibilities include mopping, trash disposal, and general cleaning to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.

Qualifications:
  • Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one is essential.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in relevant fields preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated reliability and integrity in handling sensitive materials and information.
