Overview:

The Athletic Department supports the academic mission of the University by providing programs and services to enable students to engage in physical activities as an integral part of the overall educational experience. The Athletic Department seeks to provide programs and leadership to enable the University to be a model NCAA Division III institution in academic and athletic excellence. The Director of Sports Performance will lead the overall department in the design, implementation, and supervision of sport-specific strength & conditioning programs that facilitate maximum benefits for all sports teams and individual student-athletes. Oversee strength and conditioning program from 25 NCAA Division III sports. Perform services to support an active, student-oriented campus environment while complying with national, local, university, NCAA and conference laws, regulations, standards and codes.



Responsibilities:
  • Coaching, Training, Instruction - Perform as a professional educator and role model to facilitate individual students to maximize and develop their overall strength, conditioning & wellness as student-athletes and to work together as a successful, competitive intercollegiate team.
  • Strength and Conditioning - Direct the coordination of strength and conditioning programs for all 25 Division III varsity programs.
  • Program Design and Implementation - Implement and design all strength and conditioning programming for the department, including warm-ups, lifting protocols, cardiovascular training, agility, flexibility, and recovery of each athletic program.
  • Collaboration - Communicate and collaborate with Head Coaches, Team Physicians, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers on performance enhancement, injury prevention, recovery, and conditioning best practices for all sports.
  • Weight Room Management - Ensure proper operation of the weight room, with a focus on safety, education, inclusion and holistic growth. Maintain accurate inventory and control all supplies and equipment in the weight room
  • Supervision - Recruit, supervise, and properly train coaching graduate assistants and assistant strength coaches to implement the sport specific strength program.
  • Departmental Representative - Contributes to the achievement of established departmental goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality and safety standards. Maintain health working relationships with members of the Catholic University athletic department staff and student-athletes.


Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree and must have minimum of two (2) years of strength and conditioning coaching and instruction experience; at the college level is preferred.

National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS) and/or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association certification required. Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations. Must be First Aid/CPR/AED Certified.

USAW certification is preferred.
