Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Teach Physics lecture and/or lab courses at the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA ) in the summer and/or fall semesters. Courses may be taught during daytime, evening and/ or Saturday hours.

Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications Required KSAs:

Adept knowledge of instructional technologies

Excellent interpersonal and native or near-native oral and written English skills

Ability to work with a diverse student population

Successful passing of a criminal background check

Adjunct faculty are required to meet assigned classes on meeting dates, submitrequired grade records and reports, student learning outcomes.

Classes maybe held during the day, evening or combination of both.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Physics or a related field of study, OR a Masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Physics

Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with introductory level astronomy courses.

Previous experience in Astronomy.

College level teaching experience and/or relevant work experience.
