The ME&A Internship Program offers exceptional students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to International Development Operations. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various aspects of ME&A work. Applicants should have expressed interest in the field of international development; ability to adapt to new environments and work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Interns work under the supervision of a staff member at ME&A. The background of the interns is matched with the needs of the organization. This is a hybrid work environment. Interns are required to work in the HQ Bethesda office on their scheduled days.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a technical expert in the respective area, interns are assigned a project based on agreed terms of references and in line with their skills set. These terms of references typically include some or all of the following responsibilities:
Communicating effectively orally and in writing
Provide support in organizing consultative meetings and special events
Assist in preparation of logistical arrangements for all meetings and special events
Research, analyze and evaluate documentation on various issues related to management, human resources, budget/finance and administration to assist with the establishment of various processes
Provide support in new and ongoing projects, including data entry and consolidation, administrative tasks, summarizing project-related information
Assist in drafting correspondence using standard templates
Perform statistical analyses and other data related activities, as required
Support record-keeping and digitization function
Support front desk operations at the HQ office
Perform other related duties, as required
Qualifications:
Candidates for the internship program are selected on a competitive basis. The profiles of the interns are matched with the needs of the organization. The following qualifications are required for consideration:
Students should be enrolled in a degree program (in an advanced degree preferred) or have recently graduated
Students must have written and spoken proficiency in English; fluency in other languages is preferred
Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Prior international development experience preferred but not necessary
