Georgetown's

Survey, Recruitment, and Biospecimen Collection Shared Resource (SRBSR) Services

provides advice and consultation services on most of the components of study implementation. The SRBSR can assess the number of available cases, the feasibility of accrual, and biospecimen availability as part of planning new applications. SRBSR also consults investigators survey design, measures for use in patient surveys, subject tracking and data management, and regulatory issues.

They provide data management database programming in support of research projects by investigators for population sciences, including studies in health services research, genetic counseling and genetic testing studies, behavioral studies, clinical interventions, smoking cessation studies and observational studies including survey research. Additionally, they provide data management for faculty and postdoctoral researchers on the design, and conduct of research projects relating to a wide diversity of research projects focusing on, but not limited to, cancer prevention and treatment.

Work Interactions

Reporting directly the SRBSR Manager, the Data Manager closely interacts and works with Study PIs and their staffs, including statisticians, research assistants and student interns. Further, they collaborate with researchers in Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in cancer research experiments and population studies; and interact with investigators and research staff on a daily basis to discuss issues in data collection, database programming, study tracking, data entry, report generation, and tabulations of preliminary statistics.

Responsibilities

Works with multiple PIs to develop tailored database management solutions to the specific need of individual research projects.Programs databases and data entry programs for specific research projects. Builds and maintains databases for each research project.Attends team meetings to discuss data management issues and holds individual meetings with the Project Director and project staff.Interacts with investigators, CPC staff and external collaborators to understand data needs for research studies, and assists with data management plans for research projects and grants.Assists in conceptualizing, creating and managing custom database applications for research studies (MS Access, REDCap).Specializes in creating, collecting, storing and analyzing electronic data - via surveys and linkages of automated health records, administrative data, cancer registry data, and clinical data derived from medical chart reviews.Creates datasets from large databases using SAS and SPSS.Proficiently merges data from various sources, cleaning and preparing data for analyses, and performing preliminary data analyses using basic statistics (frequency distributions); and prepares technical data reports, including summary statistics (SAS, SPSS); and meticulously - and with detail orientation - prepares documentation for data tracking and dataset preparation.Provides data management for CPC faculty - including identification of optimal data management methods; and works with PIs and senior statisticians to provide preliminary analyses for research projects using large, linked registry and claims data, or smaller datasets relating to cancer control areas.Prepares reports and preliminary basic analysis in support of scientific papers, posters and grant proposals.Trains and supports study staff on report creation, data visualization, survey creation and management for various studies.QualificationsBachelor s degree in Information Systems, Biostatistics, Database Management, Data Analytics or related [what?]At least 2 years of relevant experience in data management -
