Job description

Currently hiring part-time and full-time Title I Teachers. These educators will play a crucial role in supporting students attending private schools in the District of Columbia, by providing instruction to at-risk students.


The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) mandates that at-risk students receive academic supports and services aimed at closing achievement gaps and ensuring all children have the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. The (Title I, Part A) federal program provides funding to schools based on criterion such as student s academic need and children from low-income families. Key elements of Title I include needs assessment, family engagement, equitable access to licensed/credentialed teachers, and support for providing service to students in grades K-12 (general education, SPED, and bi-lingual).


This teaching opportunity focuses on delivering instructional services to eligible students attending private schools in Washington, D.C.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction

  • Demonstrates strong content knowledge in delivering Math and Reading concepts.
  • Is accountable for students academic growth; and increases each individual student s achievement.
  • Ability to implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
  • Uses assessment data to refine curriculum; informs instructional practices.

Classroom Environment

  • Sets and reinforces clear expectations and routines that are aligned with the school s overall vision, school

climate, regulations, and policies.

  • Implements Title I instruction policies and procedures into learning environment.
  • Creates a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment.

Planning and Preparation

  • Develops and implements curricula and activities to meet programs academic standards.
  • Thoughtfully plans daily lessons and implements specific strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support, enrichment, or variation of work when necessary.
  • Uses assessment data to refine curriculum; informs instructional practices.
  • Ability to implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.

Professionalism

  • Attends program professional development activities.
  • Reflects on successes and areas of growth as a teacher, seeks to improve performance, and responds to feedback.


  • Participates in collaborative Title I curriculum professional development, and school-wide functions when applicable. Invests parents and families in their children s academic success through regular communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree, preferred.
  • We welcome applicants from diverse educational backgrounds. While a degree is preferred, we also value equivalent educational experience or relevant certifications/licenses.
  • Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
  • Strong instructional skills and classroom management.
  • Enthusiasm for and demonstrated mastery of subject matter (preferably in ELA and Math).
  • Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
