Job description

Our lower-middle market, PE-backed industrial/commercial services client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer; the candidate will be responsible for providing financial and managerial leadership for all aspects of the Company. Reports to the President.


Must be local or willing to relocate.


Position Responsibilities

  • Provides critical financial and operational information to the President and key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors (BOD). Provides leadership in developing Company short- and long-term strategic financial objectives.


  • Provides counsel to senior leadership regarding financial implications of new business opportunities; provides strategic recommendations to enhance Company financial performanc


  • Directs activities to prepare Annual Business Plan, projected forecasts, and Long-Range Plan (EBITDA, cash flow management, and balance sheet).


  • Directs month-end close activities, including creating financials, performing variance analysis, and presenting financial results to the President, BOD, and other stakeholders.


  • Leverages technology to enhance business analytics and reporting. Experienced in utilizing ERP and associated data management tools and systems to improve financial insights.


  • Drives focus on data structure and integrity to ensure reporting accurately and efficiently supports business needs.


  • Ensures credibility of Finance/Accounting Department by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.


  • Responsible for the Accounting and Finance Department, and reviews consolidating financial results. Directs the preparation of internal financial statements/analyses for leadership review.


  • Leads the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial operating reports and analyses of KPIs.


  • Establishes the accounting function's procedures and protocols, including selecting and implementing accounting systems/software. Develops, implements, and upgrades financial information systems and seeks ways to improve financial reporting and control.


Qualifications, Education, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration (preferably in Accounting or Finance) from an accredited college or university.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience in roles with progressively more responsibility, including accounting operations in relevant businesses.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and various ERP systems.
  • Technically very strong, CPA preferred.
  • Leadership experience within a mid-market privately-held or private equity-backed company (preferably $10 - $100M in revenue).
