Transportation Senior Engineer - Water Resource

Job description

Rinker Design Associates, LLC, has excellent advancement opportunities for Water Resource/Hydraulic civil engineering professionals. This position will provide leadership opportunities for the development of hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, erosion & sediment control, outfall analysis, and stream restoration for a wide range of transportation design projects. Typical projects range from large design/build transportation projects to traditional projects for local government, state, and private sectors.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions and oversee the development of the water resource/hydraulic design.
  • Leads project team meetings and presents specific aspects of water resource/hydraulic design.
  • Provides design support on multiple projects of moderate size and leads designs on smaller projects.
  • Maintains high standards of work product and provides quality control for peers.
  • Interacts with clients, customers, agency representatives, and contractors.
  • Assists the project manager with schedule and budget requirements.


Position Requirements


  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Registration as a P.E. in the State of Virginia is desirable.
  • At least 5 years of experience in water resource/hydraulic engineering design.
  • Understanding VDOT and local policies and procedures is desirable.
  • Strong technical design background in water resource/hydraulic design and familiar with VDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, and DEQ standards.
  • Must demonstrate teamwork and possess written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience in using CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D) is desirable.
