SummaryThe House Office Buildings, Painting Branch seeks temporary painters for the upcoming 119th Congressional Transitions. Announcement will be open until all positions are filled.Cut-offs will be taken approximately every 30 days.DutiesThese Positions are Temporary119th CONGRESSIONAL MOVESJourneyman level experience is required for the position.Tour of Duty:Day Shift: (6:30 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.)Evening Shift (4:00 P.M. - 12:30 A.M.)Night Shift (9:30 P.M. - 6:00 A.M.)*Shift work may change due to the Operating Needs of the Agency.*Office moves are scheduled 6 days a week, overtime may be required and will be mandatory- Performs a variety of work assignments involving brush, roller and spray painting. Determines color and consistency of paint required.-Selects paints from plans and specifications. Mixes pigments, thinners, and oils to produce paint that will flow evenly and consistently to ensure surfaces that have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance.-Checks masking and preparation of surface to be painted.Applies paint, selecting the proper materials and equipment to achieve an even distribution. Applies finishes to wood, metal, equipment, in interior and exterior locations using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.- Evaluates existing painted surfaces for damage. Alters, repairs, and maintains new and historical painted surfaces. Matches colors, shading and texture of interior finishes as required.- Trims, sands, and smooths surfaces using hand tools, caulk, sand paper, and spackle knives.- Follows all relevant safety rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Must utilize knowledge of and must comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner.
