Job description
A construction firm in Capital Heights, MD that specializes in federal government projects is searching for a Construction Controller. They are looking for a seasoned professional with a strong background in construction project accounting to help revamp the accounting department to optimize financial accuracy and efficiency across high-profile projects involving government entities. The ideal candidate has a personable, but professional approach to leadership and a deep understanding of financial controls, AP/AR, payroll management and the intricacies of federal certified payroll. Pay Range: $150, 000 - $200, 000 DOE
Responsibilities:
Oversee project accounting, including forecasting, projections, and determining costs to completion
Manage accounts payable/receivable and handle employee payroll operations, including compliance with Federal Certified Payroll requirements
Lead the transition from QuickBooks to Acumatica, ensuring accurate migration of project data
Develop and implement accounting procedures to establish and enhance financial controls
Assume responsibility for Work In Progress (WIP) reporting post-Acumatica integration
Address and improve upon existing financial controls, invoicing, and AP/AR procedures
Engage in extensive cost accounting and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new implementations
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role
Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CMFA certification is strongly preferred
Previous experience as a Construction Controller or Assistant Controller in a mid-size company
Proficiency in Timberline or Acumatica is required
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to manage both accounting functions and personnel
Must have experience working for a general contractor with federal contracts.
