Job description

Classification Title Computer Supp Spec II Working Title Computer Support Specialist II Benefits Eligible Eligible Salary $17.688 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. Rate of pay will be determined by the staff compensation plan. Duties and Responsibilities **Computer Lab Support**

* Configure, build, and support physical and virtual client machines across College computing labs.

* Determine hardware and software requirements and ensure appropriate licensing, installation, and configuration.

* Assist others in the University IT Community with NACOE software installation and other support activities as needed.

* Contribute to departmental and University knowledge management documentation of computer labs.

**General Computer & End-User Support**

* Provide end-user assistance in the use of campus computing resources to a wide range of constituents with varying knowledge levels by troubleshooting, analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving complex user technical problems.

* Provide client and endpoint support with tools such as Ivanti, Jamf, McAfee, Spirion and others.

* Working closely with University IT staff, provide occasional support for NACOE classroom technology as needed.

* Assess the computing needs of faculty and staff providing appropriate and targeted recommendations, support, and maintenance on computing devices and services to optimally meet their needs.

* Contribute to departmental and University knowledge management documentation.

**Security Responsibility**

* Follow information security best practices and abide by University security policies and the guidance of the Information Security Group.

* Positively communicate and encourage security best practices throughout campus the College and campus community.

* Assess information security needs and recommend best practices among customers, including proactively asking questions to determine security needs and recommending solutions in accordance with University security policies and the guidance of the Information Security Group.

Required Qualifications Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

- Bachelors degree in a technology related field (such as computer science/engineering, information technology etc.) or ***an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.***

- Demonstrated experience providing technical support including physical and virtual desktops, end-user troubleshooting and customer support, and support for computing and printing peripherals.

- Demonstrated experience using Active Directory and other tools, techniques, and best-practices for computer management and end-user support in an enterprise environment.

Preferred Qualifications Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

- Prior technical support role including desktop, end-user and server support experience utilizing tools and techniques such as SCCM , Ivanti, Kace as well as PowerShell, VBScript or Windows batch file scripts.

- Experience supporting virtual and physical computer lab environments.

- Experience in higher-ed information technology.

- Experience working in a networked environment including file sharing, e-mail configuration, network printing, client-side IP configuration; knowledge of networking principles and technologies including TCP /IP/DNS /DHCP , Ethernet and other networking technologies.

* Ability to be a forward, creative, positive, and flexible thinker exercise good judgment and make sound decisions.

* Ability to work effectively and collaborate with University IT staff in a team-oriented environment.

* Ability to analyze system components and support options to break down and resolve problems.

* Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently managing competing technical priorities.

* Skilled at communicating technical product knowledge in an understandable form to technical and non-technical personnel.

* Ability to manage competing technical priorities and problem solve independently as well as part of a team.
