I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Pre-Award Management, the Sponsored Projects Analyst, Pre-Award supports institutional research goals as an integral part of the Office of the Vice President for Research s Office of Sponsored Projects.
The Sponsored Projects Analyst, Pre-Award performs the core functions of the central office as institutional review and approval of all proposals for submission in order to secure external funding; as a resource person with expert level understanding and applied knowledge, providing consultation, guidance, and direction to senior leadership; functioning independently and decisively at a high level of proficiency; serving as co-facilitator to prepare and conduct training and education sessions; and serving as a delegate to submit proposals to the sponsor.
The Sponsored Projects Analyst, Pre-Award may manage a portfolio of diverse university schools, departments, centers, and institutes. The incumbent performs as a primary university resource to interpret and implement sponsor guidelines, federal and state regulations, along with university policies and procedures; provides oversight of the proposal development process to minimize the university s compliance risk; communicates with sponsoring agencies; develops training materials; provides guidance, education, and training to unit and departmental level staff associated with sponsored activities; and keeps abreast of new developments in the field of research administration, pre-award management, federal regulations, policies, and procedures in order to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for information and guidance to university faculty, staff, and students.
Specific responsibilities include:
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
