Principal Surveyor Principal Engineer, Land Surveying

The Principal Surveyor will act as the technical lead in the surveying discipline providing review, oversight, and expertise on projects involving land surveying directly or indirectly. They will function as a project leader on major surveying projects or projects on which either construction, preliminary, or land surveying is a major portion. They may act as the city surveyor on behalf of the firm for municipal clients.

As a key person in the firm they provide insight on high-complexity projects to provide accurate services to clients. The role will also be involved leading activities associated with surveying services, and leading technical development.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet with clients, project management staff, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate during project proposal phases
  • Collaborate with the project managers during project proposal, preparation, execution, post-processing, and delivery phases
  • Oversee and enforce company survey procedures in conformance with state Standards of Practice, state and federal laws, and contract requirements.
  • Review, approve, and sign survey plans developed and prepared by staff.
Qualifications:
  • The Principal Surveyor is a licensed land surveyor or registered civil engineer who has demonstrated skills, ability, experience, or education in planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling major surveying projects.
  • The Principal Surveyor exhibits an ability to successfully meet project demands and manage technical staff and client relations.
  • Current, California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, is highly desirable.
  • 8+ years managing, reviewing, and advising on survey projects
