Duties/Responsibilities: Implement all components of program offered including: musical theatre, choir, and performing arts. Develop and teach class curriculum appropriate for members with developmental, cognitive, and physical diverse abilities. Contribute ideas, skills and talents to program development and enhancement, and to the member's interests. Know and follow the core values of the YMCA-caring, respect, responsibility and honesty with members, families, co-workers, other facility staff and volunteers. Integrate these character development values into daily activities. Be alert and sensitive to the individual needs of the members. As appropriate, modify program curriculum based on the abilities of each member. Use best practices for individual and group engagement and behavior redirection, report member behavior issues to Program Director. Observe and monitor social and physical interactions between members; follow modification techniques, encourage, and reinforce appropriate social behaviors and communications. Relate to the students with respect, love, kindness, and concern. Always be ready to listen, and to provide each member with positive input to build a healthy self- image. Maintain cleanliness and efficiency of Center/facility and any equipment.Work with Program Director regarding any needed program supplies or equipment staying within departmental budget. Perform other related duties as assigned by Program Director.

Hours: Part-time, non-exempt

Rate: $17.00 per hour

Worksite: Anaheim Accessibility Center (100 S Atchison St Anaheim, CA 92805)

Qualifications

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.Must have familiarity/understand general concepts in working with youth and adults with developmental, cognitive, and physical diverse abilities, including best practices for individual and group engagement and behavior redirection. Specific subject and content expertise as required of the job assignment. Ability to demonstrate the use of soft skills proficiently: communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and positive self-concept. Ability to use typical business software and office equipment. Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff. If designated as a YMCA Business Driver, the employee must possess a valid/current CA Driver's License or other valid state driver's license and must provide to the Y proof of minimum CA vehicle insurance coverage upon request & must also maintain an approved/acceptable driving record. An annual MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) will be conducted by the Y. Employees who are YMCA Business Drivers who do not maintain an acceptable driving record may be prohibited from being a Business Driver, which could affect employment status. Must submit to and comply with all requirements for employment including, but not limited to, a criminal background check, drug/alcohol testing, health screening, TB test. Must have, or be willing to receive, First Aid/CPR and AED Certification classes (if applicable) within the first 30 days of employment and keep current as a condition of continued employment.
