We offer our customers a one-stop shopping experience by producing aggregates, recycledaggregates, asphalt, concrete and a full line of grading and paving contracting services. **The Role**

The District Manager will provide oversite of various aspects of business operations. The position will focus on employee and site safety, Sales, quality, operations, and employee development. In addition to the day to day operating responsibility the position will have input on business strategy and capital investments. The individual will focus on corporate business strategy to develop an annual business plan that includes sales forecast, pricing and production plans. This position will provide leadership and direction to the operations through the Sunrock Operating team that includes, Asphalt, Aggregate, Quality and Sales.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

**Safety**

- Complies with all safety policies, procedures, established safe practices, and ensures that all employees reporting to you do the same. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety and Health.

- Trains, develops, and monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of his/her employees through regularly scheduled safety meetings, one on one development, reminders, and disciplinary action, if necessary.

- Follows all requirements listed in the Supervisor Safety Procedures Manual (SSPM) including, but not limited to, safety training, emergency procedures, accident reporting and investigation, and employee observations.

- Ensures compliance of production staff with all policies and procedures, OSHA, MSHA, and NCDOT guidelines.

- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.

**OPERATIONAL**

- Responsible for meeting Annual Operating Plan (AOP) cost targets. Oversee operational efficiencies and production efficiencies for asphalt operations, aggregate distribution and recycle.

- Communicates collaboratively with senior management, operations, sales, and HMA team members on issues concerning material requirements, customer demands and issues, plant issues, and facilities management on a daily basis.

- Ensure divisions operate efficiently, analyzing metrics and periodically review metrics to ensure key performance indicators provide insight on how each division is performing.

- Oversee the movement of goods into and out of production facilities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations.

- Direct and coordinate activities of business units or departments concerned with the production, pricing, sales, or distribution of products.

- Assists in the coordination of safety meetings and assists managers and supervisors in facilitating monthly safety meetings to fulfill all annual safety requirements.

- Ensure Quality of Product meets specifications and Customer requirements.

- All quality complaints are investigated, with root cause analysis performed and responded to appropriately to customer in a timely manner. Ensure plant and equipment uptime goals are set and achieved.

- Direct and oversee winter shut down repair schedule.

**Sales**

- Ensure the company sells the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) volumes by product line.

- Ensure Product Pricing is at market levels or above.

- Continuously monitor Sunrocks pricing to ensure competitiveness in the market.

- Responsible for covering the market and developing/maintaining key relationships.

- Maintains up to date knowledge of product market pricing and oversees prices being provided to Sunrock customers are market competitive, including pricing on special large volume projects.

**MANAGERIAL**

- Continuously improve upon an operations culture where safety is paramount. Lead by example and motivate the management team to do the same.

- Continuously monitor staffing in all departments for which you have responsibility is adequately staffed but not excessive and is consistent with personnel strategies for growth or reduction of each division.

- Ensure all personnel are trained according to company policies, operational procedures and safety standards.

- Ensure Sunrocks customer service exceeds the standard in our market including: order taking, shipping, delivery and Quality standards. All members of your departments are functioning as a team, working together with each other and other divisions.

- Develops and maintains a culture of professionalism and communication for all team members.

- Completes or oversees completion of periodic job performance appraisals of direct reports and subordinate staff.

- Ensure all disciplinary policies/procedures are being enforced consistently throughout your departments.

- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

**ENVIRONMENTAL**

- Ensure managers remain in compliance with environmental management or sustainability programs.

- Responds immediately to any incident with potential environmental impact to the Corporate environmental group located in Raleigh, NC.

- Makes recommendations to enhance environmental responsibility.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**

Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university required; Ten plus (10) years of related experience and/or training required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

**Certificates, Licenses, Registrations**

A current Virginia or North Carolinas drivers license

Ability to obtain a VA Weighmaster License

Ability to obtain job specific VDOT Certifications
