Team Submarine SHAPM supports the design, development, testing, oversight, and procurement of the COLUMBIA Class submarine's Integrated Power System (electrical distribution system and electric drive) and provides engineering oversight of VA and CVN ships service turbine generator (SSTG) control systems.

In this role, you will work closely with:

  • Naval Reactors, PMS 397, The shipbuilder, and Component vendors to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
  • This position provides technical expertise in the review of design specifications, technical issue resolution, and technical documentation of Columbia Class Main Propulsion Electric Drive system.
  • Interfacing routinely with Electric Boat and Naval Reactors in ensuring the proper design and operation of the Electric Drive and all controlling systems.
  • A dynamic team working for Sercos customer in Team Submarine, Undersea Advanced Technology Operation, onsite at the Washington Navy Yard.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering preferred, will consider other engineering or related fields.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance. (post employment)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, including three years in operations and/or design, testing, and issue resolution associated with Electric Power Distribution and Switchboards.
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Provide rigorous, responsive, technical acumen while retaining a collaborative and amiable approach.
  • 10% travel required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with power conversion AC/DC and DC/AC is highly desired.
