General Description and Qualifications

Appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Administrative Assistant, the Parks and Recreation Big Splash Facility Maintenance Worker, under the immediate supervision of the Aquatics Technician is responsible for performing general facility and pool maintenance and repairs.

The Big Splash Facility Maintenance Worker, shall be chosen solely on the basis of their qualifications, and as shown by the adequacy of their successful experience.

Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general.

Has the ability to follow direction, provide necessary services and enforced stated rules and regulations.

Completion of secondary education (high school or GED); must be 18 years of age and qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy; experience with equipment/tools preferred.

Essential Functions of the Position

Obeys and promptly executes all orders of the Administrative Assistant.

The Big Splash Facility Maintenance Worker shall have the following duties under the direction of their immediate supervisor:

Demonstrates regular attendance.

Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Supports the Parks and Recreation Department by successfully executing daily job assignments.

Tests pool water and adjusts accordingly. Maintains daily chemical log.

Maintains and cleans pool filter, pool walls and floor.

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks to assist with the efficient delivery of City services (e.g., general landscape duties, litter pick-up removal of trash, restroom cleaning etc.).

Operates and maintains City-owned equipment as assigned (e.g., miscellaneous hand tools, power tools, and vehicles, etc.).

Inspects equipment and tools prior to operation to ensure safety.

Maintains City tools and equipment as required.

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Assists Aquatics Technician as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Equipment Operated

The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.) and aquatics environments; ascends and/or descends stairs; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 50 lbs or less.

Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.

Minimum Acceptable Characteristics, Licensure and/or Certification

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License and maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.

Knowledge of Office practices and procedures; English grammar and spelling; records management; *City/department goals and objectives; *City/department policies and procedures; *workplace safety practices and procedures; *personnel rules and regulations; public relations.
