Overview:

CB&I is the most experienced and the only worldwide builder and designer of industrial storage products and facilities. Headquartered in the Houston, Texas, CB&I has the global expertise and strategically located operations to provide engineering, procurement and construction solutions for our customers most complex energy projects.

The Shop Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring all production activities within a CB&I Fabrication Shop to meet established specifications, schedules, costs and quality standards. This role defines and maintains all shop capabilities including staffing, skills development, tooling and equipment and routinely interacts fabrication shop personnel. This position is an experienced Fabrication Superintendent role reporting to the Plant Manager.



Responsibilities:
  • Typically responsible for oversight of fabrication shop activities and functions and acts as an Assistant to the Plant Manager
  • Train and supervise all employees on a shift, schedule shifts, and coordinate production processes
  • Accountable for shop logistics, including tools and equipment, contract materials, workforce scheduling to execute shop fabrication activities
  • Establish a detailed fabrication schedule and efficient utilization of all Shop labor, supplies and equipment
  • Accountable for maintaining the Shop production organizational structure and supervisor development
  • Direct the various shop trades and define their respective scopes of work
  • Manages Labor Relations per local requirements
  • Responsible for managing shop production employees to comply with all labor and wage standards and the proper treatment of employees per Company policies
  • Manage time taking function to assure timely submittal and processing of employee payrolls
  • Work with the Plant Manager to manage fabrication personnel and address employee relations issues
  • Work with the Plant Manager and Project Managers to ensure all fabrication schedules are met.
  • Work to a schedule and ensure delivery milestones are met
  • Prepare for and participate in operations review meetings, as requested
  • Maintain all Welding and QA/QC requirements and capabilities for the Shop
  • Assure Quality of workmanship and actively manages Shop Quality and Lesions Learned programs
  • Accountable for implementation of all HSE programs and that HSE targets are met
  • Oversee shop operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines set by OSHA, State, CB&I, and the Plant.
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between various departments to optimize workflow, minimize bottlenecks, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Utilize the Monitoring TFMS system to effectively manage budget allocations and ensure proper assignment of work packs to shop personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive plant-wide work plan, taking into account schedule dates, potential problem areas, and the need for overtime while striving to meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to develop a weekly shop schedule that aligns with project timelines and resource availability.
  • Supervise shop personnel, providing direction, guidance, and support to drive efficiency, quality, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Identify and resolve fabrication-related issues promptly, utilizing problem-solving skills and ensuring minimal disruptions to project timelines.
  • Pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and quality of fabricated components, while adhering to project specifications and industry standards.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of fabrication techniques, processes, and equipment, assisting in troubleshooting and optimizing resource utilization.

  • Manage time effectively to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and meet project deadlines without compromising safety or quality standards.



Qualifications:
  • Typically 5 years since first degree and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelors in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years in a production environment supervisory role
