Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Remediation Engineer or Scientist for our Environmental Science and Remediation Engineering Practice in our Columbia, Maryland office. You will apply your academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design analysis and implementation of feasibility studies, treatability studies, remedial design, permitting, and construction of soil, groundwater, and sediment remediation projects;
  • Chemical data analysis and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; and
  • At times, job may also include fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.


Education and Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental science or environmental engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E, P.G.) (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Experience with federal and state regulatory programs and requirements for environmental assessment or remediation projects. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. drivers license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
