Under the general supervision of the Distribution Manager, the Warehouse Department Manager provides direction and has ownership for warehousing, material processing, and/or distribution activities. As a member of the Distribution Leadership Team, requires comprehensive understanding of the concepts and principles within their own functional area and also requires basic knowledge of these elements in other relevant functional areas in order to participate in the resolution of issues that have an impact beyond the area or impact multiple areas.

Key Responsibilities

Lead uninterrupted delivery of goods to our customers, maximizing storage space and developing strategies to continually improve flow through the DC.

Execute plans for continuous improvement for warehouse operations. Ensures completion of outbound schedules and compliance to specifications and all documented protocols. Prepares and oversees customer site visits and audits.

Utilizes the HPO Systems to empower and develop their teams using established HPO systems, core beliefs, guiding principles and attributes. Leads team by applying situational leadership, coaching, facilitation, presentation, role playing (feedback & conflict management) skills and leveraging established processes, such as, Fit-for-use, Daily Management, Total Productive Maintenance and Process Reliability.

Creates a vision for the team that is in alignment with McCormick and the DC. Removes barriers and obstacles to team performance. Demonstrates a sense of urgency and tenacity to resolve problems and implement process improvements. Leads failure analysis when required for failures. Participates in planning for warehouse team improvements.

Performs evaluations and creates development/training plans for individuals within the team and manages employee relations. Actively uses PDPs to document and facilitate improvement/recognition discussions. Manages compensation process for team and recommends wage increases for high performers (pay for performance).

Develops and ensures all procedures and best practices are documented and creates an atmosphere of 100% compliance to operational processes and procedures and continuous improvement using problem solving methodologies and established principals, including GMPs and other guidelines to ensure safety and sanitation.

Required Qualifications

Level of Education and Discipline: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics/Purchasing

Experience - Minimum of 7-10 years functional/leadership experience. Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and results in functional area. Strong leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and people. The job requires a detailed understanding of how all areas of the plant interact to contribute to the business. Requires a general understanding of the industry. Requires basic commercial awareness as it relates to competition but only requires limited understanding of the latest developments in the industry. Superior understanding of planning systems, SAP purchasing protocol, MHPS, planning/inventory theories.

Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence

Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others. Leadership of exempt Team Managers or equivalent to achieve common objectives. May interface with external parties as representative of the plant/facility. Strong cross-functional strategic leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear, concise, and professional manner. Ability to influence upwards . Interact with materials management, inventory control, customer service, master data, transportation and other departments as needed. Frequent communication with outside customers and suppliers, internal sales and production.

Other Skills and HPO Competencies

Leadership: This job has full management responsibility for the team, including management of people, defining roles and responsibilities, planning for the departments future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes.
