Job Description ATCS, PLC is a dynamic and nimble firm seeking a project manager for heavy civil design projects including new construction, roadway widenings, intersections, interchanges, and more. Our company has high standards for quality, business ethics, and a concern for the communities that we live in and support. We seek a motivated and energetic project manager that will operate in a collaborative team and deliver high-quality projects for public agency clients, including local municipalities and VDOT.

The desirable candidate will perform a variety of engineering tasks relative to various municipal and VDOT roadway design projects using applicable software and standards. The diversity of responsibilities and actual tasks to be done require a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude with progressively increasing management capabilities. Duties would include project design, task management, project management, client contact, agency contact, and quality control. The individual will be assigned to the ATCS Blacksburg office but may be expected to travel to other ATCS offices to support collaborative efforts and/or pursuits.

**Key Role Requirements:**

* Oversight and preparation of construction documents and specifications

* Quantity takeoffs

* Preparation of reports

* Field visits during design or construction

* Preparation for and attendance and participation in public meetings

* Reviewing and managing designs prepared by others

* Maintain organized files for both hard copy and electronic files

* Involvement in project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution

* Directing others in performing or self-performing designs for all types of roadway infrastructure projects based on AASHTO, VDOT, and/or local municipalities design standards and criteria. Specific elements of design may include:

+ Horizontal and vertical geometry

+ Typical section development

+ Pavement design

+ Hydraulic design including culverts, inlets, storm sewer and ditches

+ Erosion and sediment control design

+ Cross section development

+ Water and sewer relocation design

+ Stormwater management design

+ Erosion and sediment control design

+ Maintenance of Traffic and Sequencing of Construction Design

Job Requirements **Basic Qualifications:**

* BSCE or equivalent degree required

* P.E. preferred

* 8 plus years of applicable roadway design experience in/around Virginia preferred

* Microstation and AutoCAD Civil 3D experience

* Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards, practices and policies
