+ **Duties**

The selectee will serve as an Information Security Specialist in the Office of Professional Responsibility. Typical work assignments include:

* Overseeing and providing direction on insider threat program operational security controls in accordance with principles established by NIST Special Publications 800 series and other governing security regulations.

* Managing and implementing appropriate security controls, policies, guidelines, procedures, and countermeasures per system security plans to ensure ITP practices are protected, and operational security posture is maintained.

* Recommending, developing, and coordinating changes, enhancements, or other modifications to USSS and ITP information systems to identify issues, assess security impact, and respond to insider threats in conjunction with staff members and managers.

* Providing written materials, statistics, and other information related to tracking the development of the system security of the Insider Threat Program and disseminating information from relevant data sources to personnel.

**Conditions of Employment:**

Due to COVID-19, U.S. Secret Service is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within 30 days. At that time, you may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the agency's telework policy.

* **Physical Demands:** The work is primarily sedentary; however, it may require walking, standing, bending, and carrying light objects.

* **Work Environment:** The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office, conference room, or similar setting.

** Qualifications**

You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $106,823) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as managing and implementing security controls, guidelines, and procedures; assessing security plans; advising and directing staff in accordance with security regulations (e.g., Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and NIST Special Publications 800 series); identifying security issues and recommending solutions, and developing written materials to brief stakeholders on security activities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

**Time-in-Grade:** Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
