Job description

$36 - $37The Licensed Addiction Counselor provides one on one drug and alcohol consultation to patients/clients; along with individual and group therapy in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient programs. The Licensed Addiction Counselor also provides crisis intervention and assists with behavioral health needs and issues including mental illness, developmental and learning disabilities, substance use, etc.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provides addiction-related health and psychosocial assessmentsAssists with analyzing of patient/client health needs and establishes applicable treatment programsProvides individual and group treatment/therapyConsults unit staff in regard to diagnosis and treatment planning when appropriateProvides crisis intervention to align with clinical standards and programmingAssigns patients/clients to special programs /or placements to meet health needs and/or legal requirementsProvides proper clinical documentation per facility policyCommunicates to advise, clinical staff on treatment planning and patient/client goalsHelps family members understand their role in the recovery process and assists with coping and family-related issuesModifies treatment programs as necessary based off observationsPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Bachelor s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or public health requiredCurrent license or certificate in addictions/substance abuse counseling in the state of assignment requiredExperience in behavioral health guidelines, to include behavioral health assessments, individual and group therapy, clinical management of patients with mental illness and / or substance abuse issues preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
