ABOUT WOODLAND AND JOB CORPS CENTER

The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging. We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training.

POSITION SUMMARY
Ensures that food, supplies and equipment are available as needed and stored properly when not in use. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of food for meals. Provides kitchen clean-up to facilitate sanitizing of all food service areas.

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION
May supervise Job Corps Work-Based Learning students assigned to the department.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Meal Preparation and Service:

    • Assist in the preparation and serving of nutritious and delicious meals for students and staff.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in food handling and preparation.
  2. Customer Service:

    • Provide friendly and welcoming service to students and staff in the dining facility.
    • Address dietary restrictions and special requests with a positive and accommodating attitude.
  3. Cleanliness and Sanitation:

    • Maintain a clean and organized dining area, kitchen, and food storage spaces.
    • Follow sanitation protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic food service environment.
  4. Menu Planning Support:

    • Collaborate with the kitchen team to assist in menu planning and development.
    • Offer creative ideas to enhance the variety and appeal of menu options.
  5. Inventory Management:

    • Monitor and manage food inventory, reporting shortages and ordering supplies as needed.
    • Minimize waste through efficient portion control and storage practices.
  6. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the culinary team, kitchen staff, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss improvements and address challenges.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred. Experience in a food services operation desired. Ability to obtain local Food Handling/Health Certification required.


Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
