Academy Team Administration Internship

Position Summary:

D.C. United is seeking applicants for an Academy Administrator Internship Position. The candidate will assist with all aspects of logistics and planning for D.C. United Academy as directed by the Head Academy Administrator. This position will offer the candidate hands-on experience in a high-level collaborative team-sport environment. The candidate will gain an understanding of the daily workings and the environment in elite sport. The candidate will gain a conceptional understanding of how to plan and organize short-term and long-term plans, from day-to-day planning to larger scale preparation for specific events. This internship is aimed towards those seeking to grow into an admin or operations position. The individual must possess a strong desire to learn and grow. This is an unpaid internship.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with general daily administration of D.C. United's Academy.
  • Assist Academy Administrator with planning logistics for away trips.
  • Assist with player/trialist transportation and accommodations.
  • Support home match operations.
  • Support in the logistics of game day preparation and execution.
  • Complete special projects as needed and other duties assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining an organizing workspace for First Team Staff
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:
  • Background in sport operations at the international, professional, or collegiate level.
  • Relationship-based and understanding and appreciative of the demands of players and staff.
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks.
  • Enthusiastic and initiative-taking attitude.
  • Forward thinker and contributor of ideas and opinions to tasks in hand.
  • High work ethic, with an ability to work both independently and part of a wider team.
  • Collaborative in nature, with an efficient and effective communication style.
  • Familiarity with various software platforms including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Requirements:
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and eligible for college credit.
  • Available 20-25 hours per week.
