Washington DC area-based financial firm is looking for an experienced investment economist to lead a team that creates original research on the structure and trends of the US and global ETF, mutual fund, and closed-end fund industries.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of economists and direct and oversee their work on original policy-orientated research on the US Mutual Fund Industry with a focus on proposed laws and regulations that might impact the fund industry.
• Work with other senior managers to develop policy positions and strategies.
• Represent the firm in front of a variety of interested constituencies: regulators, policymakers, the research community, and financial media.

Requirements:

• The candidate must have a PhD in Economics
• The candidate must have experience managing people and projects.
• The candidate must have 7+ years of experience interpreting government regulations that would have a significant economic impact on the capital markets.
• Must have proven academic research and writing experience.
• Must have superior analytical skills that can be translated into policy research.
• Must have proven experience communicating complex issues to a wide range of audiences both in written and oral form.
• Must have a very strong understanding of financial institutions and financial markets.
• Must have a proven established record of economic research associated with financial markets and financial institutions.
