Job description

We are growing fast! Centro Hispano is seeking an executive director to guide the organization through a period of significant growth. The executive director is the face of Centro Hispano, responsible for overall leadership, has the responsibility to carry out our mission and is responsible for the overall management and operation of all aspects of the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, enhance and direct Centro Hispano s operations and programs..
  • Retain diverse highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing career coaching, growth, and personal development for workers.
  • Provide leadership to and manage the efforts of staff to ensure appropriate support of all functions.
  • Develop and implement consistent policies, procedures, and operational reporting metrics as needed to support best practices and any compliance requirements.
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and brand; develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs.
  • Establish and build relationships with top leaders in Frederick, including those representing business, government, and non-profit sectors, to increase trust in Centro Hispano and its relevance in the community.
  • Oversee external communications, including website, marketing, newsletters, and social media.
  • Monitor ongoing finances, including budgets, cash flow and statements of expenses.
  • Ensure that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources.
  • Report on Centro s results for Centro s Board, including budgeting, fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Dynamic, high-energy and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization.
  • Awareness of the challenges faced by the Hispanic immigrant community and/or experience working with that community
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills required
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to multi-task and think strategically.
  • Five or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
  • Organized, takes initiative, and works independently.
  • Experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising.
  • Experience with grant development and contract negotiations.
  • Entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset, with innovative approach to business planning.
  • Master s degree in a related field (nonprofit management, organizational development, leadership, fundraising/fund development, finance, etc.) a plus.
