QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB
Passage of the ETS Parapro Assessment, or
Passage of the applicable ACT WorkKeys assessments
EVALUATION: As per current collective bargaining agreement
Employment Terms/Hours: 6.5 hours/day; five days per week
Salary: As per current Support Staff Contract.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as an instructional assistant for a special education child as per the Individualized Education Plan
- Assists the teacher in achieving teaching and learning objectives working with the individual student addressing his/her needs, interests and abilities
- Communicates with and alerts the teacher to any problems or special information related to the student
- Assist the teacher with the management and supervision of students in the classroom to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
- Assists with the supervision of students, and other duties in the school, as assigned by the principal

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- All instructional assistants must have a statement of approval from the Illinois State Board of Education, including a statement of having acquired State and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified status. This approval is based on meeting one of the following:
Completion of paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB
Passage of the ETS Parapro Assessment, or
Passage of the applicable ACT WorkKeys assessments
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers
- Illinois elementary teaching certificate preferred
- Ability to speak foreign language/Spanish preferred
