The Buckeye Ranch is seeking a Kinship Service Caseworker to join our PFSN and Foster Care Departments! The Kinship Service Caseworker is responsible for the emergent and non-emergent assessment of relatives and non-relatives for the placement of children in the custody of FCCS, managed by PFSN. The caseworker will work closely with PFSN service teams, TBR foster care staff, and Placement Specialists. The caseworker will assist kinship caregivers will ongoing case management which includes but is not limited to referrals for services, support, and financial resources.

Schedule: Full-time, Exempt (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm)

Location: Columbus, OH

What you'll do:

  • Assesses clients for appropriate level of care. Assesses behavioral examples, including frequency, duration, severity, and environmental impacts.
  • Assesses the need for PFSN involvement of any financial assistance after community resources are exhausted.
  • Determines the level of immediate and future risk of abuse or neglect to children.
  • Linking service recipients and making referrals to community services and TBR Foster Care Network as appropriate
  • Perform on call duties as assigned; perform emergency placements.
  • Potential to carry on-going cases, as needed.
  • Ensures timely completion of activity logs on contact with relative/non-relative contacts.
  • Participates in court hearings, if necessary.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops, and training sessions to remain current on child welfare practices.
  • Plans and implements placements that mitigate stress, prevent trauma, and promote placement stability and permanence. Provides accurate, concise narrative when needed on any documentation.
  • Up-dates yearly home studies of current relative/non-relative providers on assigned caseload.


Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field, Case management certification or bachelor's degree in a field other than a human service, with appropriate experience
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of child protective experience
  • CORE Training; required
  • Active driver's license and car insurance; required
