Assistant Controller - Hybrid in McLean, VA

About the Company and Opportunity:

• Our long-time client is a government contractor located in McLean, VA looking to bring on a temporary Assistant Controller.
• Duration: 6+ months
• Hybrid (3 in, 2 out)

Overview of the Assistant Controller role:

• Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.
• Produces and manages balance sheets and analyze future earnings and expenses.
• Assists with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting within the organization.
• Assists with preparations for audits.
• Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
• Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
• Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Delegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.
• Coordinates with and prepares reports for CFO and upper management.
• Ad hoc projects.

Preferred Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related is preferred
• 5-10 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position
• Government Contracting experience is required
• Costpoint is a plus
• Advanced Excel skills - pivot tables, VLOOKUP's
