MBL Technologies is currently hiring for a Business Continuity Specialist to support our client in the Washington, DC metro area.

The individual aids in the development, management, and refinement of continuity and contingency plans for large federal organizations. The individual will blend excellent customer service skills with experience in the key concepts and strategies supporting continuity of operations, business continuity, test, training and exercises, incident management, IT contingency and disaster recovery planning. Please note this role is onsite five days a week in the DC, Metro Area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement viable and sustainable emergency preparedness and recovery plans for the essential functions of the supporting Federal agency.
  • Use established frameworks and methodologies as best practices for the interpretation of and relevant standards of and best practices for the Federal agency.
  • Assist with continuity planning for the Federal agency, including mapping systems to processes, identifying operational orders of recovery, and supporting non-technical work developments to mitigate operational impacts to the Federal agency.
  • Identify and lead the development of additional continuity capabilities to mitigate the risk to the operations and service delivery of the Federal agency.
  • Work with the BC/DR team in development of operational recovery and reconstitution plans for the Federal agency.
  • Performs other official job duties and projects as assigned in support of the Federal agency.

Required Experience/Skills:
  • Three - five years of experience with business continuity, emergency planning, and crisis response plans.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Continuity of Operations (COOP), Business Continuity, and/or Continuity of government principles, focusing on continuity plan development and maintenance.
  • Strong demonstrated experience developing and maintaining an organization's continuity of operations plan (COOP) to include detailed quality assurance and basic graphical design.
  • Experience with Risk Management, Planning, Exercises and Operations Incident Management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry business continuity planning and Federal continuity guidance/policies, including ISO - 22301, NIST 800-34 Rev 1, and 800-30 Rev 1.
  • Understand the concepts for developing and maintaining business continuity plans for an organization's lines of business and the ability to coordinate requirements with key stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting situation analysis, using critical thinking skills, and developing corresponding reports under time constraints.
  • Experience and understanding of Project Management.
  • High proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint) to create documents, briefings, and leadership reports.
  • Experience providing excellent customer services.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deploy for emergencies.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Preferred Experience/Skills:
  • BS/BA degree is preferred (preferably in crisis, emergency, or risk management, or equivalent).
  • Experience with developing both discussion and operations-based exercises.
  • Experience developing and conducting Business Process Analyses/Business Impact Analyses.
  • Training development and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Access, SQL, or similar database tools.
