MECHANICAL ENGINEER - DISCIPLINE LEADER - Herndon, VAEstablished in 1985, our firm is a full service architectural / engineering / construction management firm located in Herndon, VA. Presently, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to be the Discipline Leader of our Mechanical Engineering Department.

The Mechanical department handles HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, generator fuel systems, controls, etc. Mission critical facilities are our big specialty. We have projects all throughout the US and currently have one in Guam.

Director of AE DesignPurpose:

Manages and supervises the Mechanical Design Department. Responsibilities include HVAC, plumbing, fuel, and fire protection systems. Designs large and complex projects. Coordinates all mechanical, plumbing and fire protection designs with architectural, electrical and structural departments. Supports Project Managers.Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees the mechanical engineering department and provides QA/QC for all mechanical department construction documents.Additional requirements include:Mission critical, telecom or Data Center experienceSystems include HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and fuel storage & deliveryQA/QC all mechanical department construction documentsRespond to code official reviews and commentsAttend construction meetings, review shop drawings, respond to contractor RFI sConduct punch list and final inspectionsDevelop drawing packages using Autocad and REVITOvernight travel for field surveys, inspections, client meetings, etc.Proficient with HVAC load calculation software.Write/edit/check Masterspec specificationsWrite and edit sequence of operations and commissioning scripts for complex systemsPerform and write feasibility and facility condition reportsExperience with manufacturer equipment selection programsLEED certification is desiredSkill set:Talented construction industry mechanical engineer with strong design background and experienced people manager.Education:BS in Mechanical EngineeringLicense:PE License with NCEES council recordExperience:Minimum 10 years of experience in the commercial construction industry.Work location:
