Pharmacy IS Coordinator

Job description

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking Pharmacy Information Systems (IS) Coordinator to join their leadership team.

The Pharmacy Information Systems (IS) Coordinator coordinates implementation, planning, installation and upgrades and modifications to Pharmacy information systems. Maintains and coordinates the maintenance of charge master, formulary, and drug interaction databases in compliance with Legal, hospital and Pharmacy requirements. Provides operational support of Pharmacy IS including clinical systems, financial systems, as they relate to Pharmacy, and automated dispensing systems. Provides operational support to other applications as they relate to Pharmacy IS while coordinating required interfaces and developing downtime procedures. Trains Pharmacy staff in the use of the Pharmacy IS and relevant applications.

This is a full-time Monday-Friday 7am -4:30pm position. Oncall requirement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and responds to end-user requests and requirements for system modifications and issues.
  • Ensures that installations and upgrades are performed with minimal disruption to end-users and all stakeholders are communicated with plans and progress.
  • Audits databases to ensure accuracy and initiates action to resolve variances.
  • Coordinates the assignment of user passwords and monitors/audits security measures for compliance.
  • Reacts quickly to equipment failures while tracking and documenting issues and resolutions.
  • Establishes and maintains policies and procedures documentation for use by end-users.
  • Employs daily monitoring systems and provides rapid corrective action when needed.
  • Coordinates training for modifications and upgrades including developing appropriate training tools and assesses staff competencies related to Pharmacy IS.
  • Develops procedures for scheduled and unscheduled downtime.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Three (3) years Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Omnicell and Epic experience preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field (IT preferred) or 4 years' experience in lieu of degree.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

License:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license.
