**Summary:** The Grange Enterprise Data Offices (EDO) goal is to achieve greater business value through the use of data by enabling Granges highest priority initiatives. The Data Steward is a key role improving the use, management, and integrity of data to support the enterprises critical business objectives to grow revenues, reduce expense, and control risk. Corporate objectives include increasing operational efficiency, enabling digital transformation, meeting new regulatory requirements, supporting advanced analytics, and promoting end-user analytic self-service.

**What Youll Be Doing:**

- Exercise decision-making and policy-making authority for matters related to governance and oversight of data to maintain the integrity, reliability, timeliness, and accuracy necessary to support business objectives.

- Work closely with senior leadership Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Analysts, Data Architects, SMEs, technical resources, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and business partners to ensure the availability, accessibility, quality, consistency, auditability, and security of enterprise data.

- Execute enterprise-wide data governance, control, and compliance policies, and work actively with teams to ensure they follow standards.

- Create and manage data dictionaries to document data, relationships, mappings, and lineage.

- Manage the consistency of data elements, data acquisition, metadata, lineage, and data quality that will help Grange utilize data assets to full capacity and ensure that all available data is fit-for-purpose.

- Evaluate data elements, identify anomalies and discrepancies, determine root cause, and implement corrective measures.

- Update and maintain documentation.

- Resolve source, definition, naming, and business rule conflicts among consuming applications and user communities.

- Deliver data management training as needed to relevant stakeholders.

- Create reporting to monitor adherence to internal policies, standards, and quality initiatives.

**What Youll Bring To The Company:**

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline; masters degree preferred.

7 years of related work experience (e.g. data stewardship, data management, data warehousing, data analytics).

Minimum of 3 years as a Data Steward, ideally in Property and Casualty Insurance.

Experience using tools and processes for the collection, analysis and remediation of data quality issues. Newer approaches in identifying data quality problems (e.g. machine learning, neural networks, etc.) are a plus.

Experience using data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage-tracking tools.

Knowledge of best practices in data management, data governance, master data management, metadata management, and business intelligence.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand business and technical functions, process information quickly, and assess impacts to data elements.

Experience required with SQL and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and hands-on experience conducting data profiling and data analysis is preferred.

Applied experience in following Agile methodologies preferred.

Strong ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels and functions of the organization.

Ability to independently learn new technologies and data related approaches and educate stakeholders on the same.
