Maxar has an urgent and immediate need for a Mid to Senior Data Scientist with strong geospatial skills to join our team at a customer-site in either Washington D.C. or Reston, Va. In this role, you will be a part of a talented team of analysts using geospatial and data manipulation techniques to provide time sensitive, innovative analytics to mission-critical partners and combatant commands. Projects for this customer are high visibility, high impact, and touch current events.

You will collaborate with the team to develop innovative statistical and geospatial workflows and automate them to deliver insights to the customer. Day-to-Day with your Colleagues:

Utilize Python and relevant libraries for spatial analytics

Undertake statistical analyses to enhance data processing, manipulate large scale data sets, and provide analytic insights.

Engage in a collaborative environment with your peers to share expertise and develop innovative concepts.

Work closely with the customer and team lead on quick-turn RFIs to decision makers.

Learn new methodologies and skillsets on the job that can contribute to the mission.

Engage with the wider Maxar community to learn about Maxar products and projects that may be applicable to the mission area.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Mathematics, International Affairs, etc.)

At least 6 years of relevant, professional experience (years of experience may be excluded in lieu of appropriate education).

At least 3 years of experience with Python, including relevant libraries such as Pandas, SciPy, Geopandas, Dask, and/or Spatialpandas.

At least 4 years of GIS experience using ArcGIS Desktop, Arc Pro, and/or QGIS

Must hold a current TS/SCI clearance and be willing and able to obtain CI polygraph

Nice to Have or Willing to Learn:

Functional knowledge of SQL, ElasticSearch and/or PySpark.
