Application Architect

Job description

We are seeking a Application Architect for a HYBRID opening supporting sites in either Dulles, VA or Arlington, VA sites.

Responsibilities:

Establish application, data, network, cloud, and datacenter centric architectures and designs based on where MWAA is current state and convince implementation team to execute.

Compiles standards, SOPs, processes, and guidelines, and gain approvals from CIO, DVP CTO, IT and Business stakeholders

Expertise on transformation of airport IT applications and systems along with abilities to conform with HA/DR and failover capacities needs.

Expert level implementation knowledge on all layers of OSI7 stacks.

Establishes and conducts architecture governance processes (compliance, approvals, put on hold, reject, issue non-conformance citations with timeline to comply, administer dependencies) and keep CIO and DVP CTO in their vision compliance.

Have good documenting, collaboration, and presentation skillsets to IT and business leaderships to persuade and convince on design approach based on tradeoffs (architecture and cost).

In collaboration with IT and business stakeholders, establish TRC, TAC, CIRC and Board documents, and socialize and gain approvals.

Work under the direction of CIO and DVP CTO.

Qualifications:

12 years of firsthand experience in web application development.

Demonstrated progression through various IT roles, including systems analysis, software development, and solution architecture.

Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF (Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework).

In-depth understanding of various technology domains, including application, data, infrastructure, and security architectures.

Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, DevOps, microservices, and IoT, and their impact on enterprise architecture.

Ability to align IT strategies and solutions with business objectives.

Understanding of business processes and how technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Exceptional leadership and communication skills to interact effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and executive leadership and the ability to translate technical concepts into business language and vice versa.

Expertise in IT governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) to ensure that enterprise

architecture meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Strong strategic planning abilities to develop and communicate a clear vision for the enterprise's technology landscape.

The ability to identify complex challenges and devise innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Proficiency in managing organizational change and transitioning from current to future state architectures.

Familiarity with a range of technology vendors and their products to make informed decisions about procurement and integration. Understanding of data modeling, data governance, and information security to manage data as a strategic asset.

Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, as security is integral to the enterprise architecture.
