NGMS is seeking a Principal Electronics Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative AMC Restricted Engineering team to help develop, enhance and maintain test hardware on cutting edge products and systems. Join a design community that offers unique design challenges and work closely with multiple engineering disciplines including Hardware, Firmware, Software, Mechanical Design, Systems Engineering, etc.

The ideal candidate is a self-driven problem solver. Employee will support the entire product lifecycle development, from design & implementation through flight test and debugging to ensure that product requirements are met. They will work closely with systems engineers, hardware design engineers, software engineers, and customers, troubleshooting and correcting root causes of various system level issues.

Additionally, the selected individual will conduct reviews of hardware related products, hardware designs, and technical documents. The responsibilities include active participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design reviews, and other reviews, as required. The selected individual will actively participate in the technical peer reviews to ensure system/hardware requirements are being met from an end to end system point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a team environment. The selected individuals will be expected to prioritize and make recommendations to Technical Leads, as required.

This position is located in Baltimore, MD

The Principal Electronics Engineer position requires a mix of Test Fixture and Software design skills. Experience with DC, Analog, Digital & RF test & measurement equipment; and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting complex electronic systems. Typical Roles and Responsibilities include:

Understanding design to cost, scope, and schedule

Requirements definition

Design of electromechanical test fixture & software test solutions

Manufacturing support during the hardware build process

Integration of test fixtures & software into a functioning test solution

Test equipment & software certification per customer requirements

Test system deployment and factory support

Software maintenance and/or hardware fixture update initiatives

Basic Qualifications Principal Electronics Engineer:

You must satisfy one of the following education/experience criteria to be considered for this position:

o Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years' experience, Master's degree in STEM with 3 years' experience, Ph.D degree in STEM with 0 years' experience

Plus:

o The ability to read and interpret specifications, schematics and block diagrams

o Mix of hardware and software skills

o Experience in text based programming (e.g. C / C++)

o Background and working knowledge in RF theory and concepts

o Effective verbal and written communication

o Experience with test & measurement equipment

o Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

o Advanced degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline

o Test design and integration background

o Ability to work with minimal direction and guidance

o Experience with LabWindows CVI, C/C++ programming

o LabVIEW programming

o Experience with schematic design tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics, Zuken, etc.)

o Proficiency with digital, analog, RF test equipment, RF theory and high speed digital design

o Familiarity with differential digital interfaces like LVDS - PXI/PXIe and VME bus experience

o Hands-on troubleshooting of electronic hardware

o Active clearance

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
